The latest remarks from the Kileleshwa MCA, Robert Alai, bring a conversation to the country. This happens after the budding bromance between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Alai claimed that the growing relationship shall see the President vying through an ODM ticket in the next general election.
On Sunday, April 13, Alai asserted that Ruto should dissolve the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He later advised all the members of the ruling party to register in the Orange Democratic Movement.
Alai being an outspoken MCA, he believes that the president will be safer if he vies through his former party, ODM. “We will disband UDA and have all UDA members register as ODM members. President must defend his seat through ODM.” Alai
Robert Alai’s remarks tend to generate political heat and exchanges. The former prime minister Raila and President Ruto’s recently found partnership has shifted the political image and pattern in the country.
Robert Alai relates to the Recent Words of the president
The ODM de facto leader, Raila Odinga, recently insisted that his party does not form any part of the current government. Further, he confirmed that the party shall field a candidate in the coming general elections.
Raila’s sentiments have been echoed by the ODM party officials like Senator Edwin Sifuna and Governor James Orengo. On the contrary, Ruto appeared to hint the way the newly found partnership shall transcend even beyond the 2027 elections.
On Saturday, April 12, Ruto seemed to school Sifuna, who currently serves as the Secretary General of ODM. The president showed his anger at Sifuna’s constant attacks on the government. Ruto, as the founding member, warned Sifuna that he might team up with his fellow founding members for a disciplinary action.
“Sifuna, when you speak about me, know that I am a founding member of ODM, so tread carefully,” Ruto asserted.
Additionally, Ruto stated, “We are the ones who found this thing, so if you push too much, I will convene a founder members conference. If we convene, we can discipline you. So let’s tread carefully.”
