The Maragua constituency Member of Parliament shifted her political alignment on Thursday, April 3. She claims that she made a mistake supporting Rigathi Gachagua. This happened during the president’s tour in Nyandarua.

MP Mary Wamau’s Confession

MP Wamaua has been in constant talks with Deputy President Gachagua. “Professor Kithure Kindiki is my good friend. I know, Mr. President, you have been watching me, and I have been in talks with Kindiki since November,” MP Mary explained.

“Let me tell you, Mr. President, you are my good friend, and I want to say that besides some few mistakes, slipping is not falling.” She added. In the past, MP Mary Wamaua has been a vocal supporter of the former deputy president.

During Gachagua’s impeachment motion, Mary Wamaua strongly criticized lawmakers. She termed the impeachment motion to be ‘unfortunate.’ In October 2024, she said, “If the deputy president is being hanged through the impeachment motion for advocating for the unity of the mountain, one day, history will fight for itself. We know they fear when the mountain is united.”

Unexpected Fallout: MP Wambua explains

Right after Rigathi’s impeachment, the relationship between MP Mary and the former deputy remains intact. Additionally, the two had most recently attended a church service at Almighty God Ministries in Mathioya, Murang’a County.

However, the friendship seems to have died. Weeks after attending the church service with former DP, Wamaua formed part of the tour with President Ruto. During the tour she added, “The president asked me a question, and because the people who employed me have spoken, whoever you call your president, I also call my president.”

She concluded, “So, Mr. President, I am your servant, and I hope you utilize my services to take Maragua and Murang’a County forward.”
